2026 Honda Passport Release Date and Pricing

The wait is almost overโ€”According toย Honda News, the 2026 Passport will be arriving at dealerships inย early 2025, like the Prelude model. The price tag is expected to start in theย mid-$40,000 range.

While itโ€™s not the cheapest SUV on the market, when you start to look at everything this beast will possibly offer, it becomes pretty clear where that value comes from.

Youโ€™re getting a whole lot of adventure-ready features bundled into a solid and reliable package.

Bold New Design and Exterior Features

Letโ€™s talk looks, because the 2026 Passport has definitely got them. Hondaโ€™s gone for a bold, rugged design that just screams, โ€œTake me off-road.โ€

Asย Honda officially confirmed, the pronounced front grille, aย longer hood, andย flared fendersย combine to create a stance thatโ€™s aggressive yet classy.

Thereโ€™s also the unmistakable “PASSPORT” lettering stamped across the front fascia and the steel tailgate, which I think is a nice touch.

TrailSport Trim

If youโ€™re eyeing the TrailSport trim, youโ€™re in for some unique features that enhance both aesthetics and performance. Amber LED daytime running lights, gloss black grilles, and metallic silver skid garnishes make a strong first impression, as we saw on the official Honda website.

And donโ€™t overlook theย 18-inch wheelsย fitted with beefyย 31-inch all-terrain tiresโ€”they’re not just for show; they actually make a difference when tackling rough terrains. Honda has also added a matte black finish to the rear roof section to prevent scratches when loading up gear.

Imagine youโ€™re throwing a kayak or mountain bikes on topโ€”you wonโ€™t have to worry about dinging up that beautiful paint job.

The whole design concept has a โ€œbold backpackโ€ feel, and itโ€™s easy to see how it aligns with the lifestyle of someone who values adventure over appearances.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the 2026 Passport is packing some serious muscle. According toย Cars, the SUV features aย 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engineย that pushes outย 285 horsepower atย 6,100 rpmย andย 262 lb-ft of torqueย atย 5,000 rpm.

Iโ€™ve always appreciated a V6 for its smooth power delivery, and with Hondaโ€™sย 10-speed automatic transmission, the Passport should feel responsive whether youโ€™re tackling trails or cruising down the highway.

Whatโ€™s particularly exciting is theย second-generation i-VTM4โ„ขย torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system. For those of us who arenโ€™t super technical, what it really means is that the Passport can send up toย 70%ย of its engine torque to the rear axleโ€”and evenย 100%ย of that to either side.

Itโ€™s perfect for getting that extra grip when things get tricky, like when youโ€™re dealing with mud, sand, or gravel. Plus, the seven selectable drive modesโ€”including new Sport, Trail, and Tow optionsโ€”let you dial in exactly the kind of performance you need for specific conditions.

Off-Road Features That Stand Out

For those interested in real off-road capabilities, the TrailSport trim has some standout features. Itโ€™s designed to be the most off-road capable Honda SUV to date, and they arenโ€™t kidding.

Asย CarBuzz reports, the increasedย ground clearance of 8.3 inchesย helps with rough terrain, and the steel skid plates protect crucial components like the oil pan, transmission, and fuel tank. Theyโ€™re even engineered to support the entire weight of the vehicle if neededโ€”now thatโ€™s some heavy-duty protection.

Another cool feature on the TrailSport Elite is theย TrailWatchโ„ข camera system. If youโ€™ve ever wished you could see exactly whatโ€™s around your vehicle while off-roading, this is the answer.

The system provides multiple exterior views, including the front, rear, sides, and a fullย 360-degree view, complete with tire-path graphics. Itโ€™s like having a second set of eyes, making those off-road excursions just a little less intimidating.

2026 Honda Passport Interior and Technology

The interior is where the Passport truly shines in terms of comfort and tech. As we found out from theย Top Speed, the spacious cabin features aย 10.2-inch digital instrument clusterย paired with aย 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreenย infotainment system.

And yes, it comes with Google built-in, which means seamless access to Google Maps and Google Assistant, among other apps. Personally, I believe that having integrated Google services is very important for road tripsโ€”it makes navigation and communication so much easier.

Wirelessย Apple CarPlayย andย Android Autoย are standard, which means fewer cords to mess with and quicker access to your favorite playlists.

Plus, the interior design has been improved to offer better rear-seat legroom and more cargo space. It is expected to seeย 44 cubic feet of storageย behind the second row, and up toย 83.5 cubic feetย with the seats folded down. Honda even redesigned the underfloor storage, adding more practicality to the mix.

TrailSport Interior Accents

If you opt for the TrailSport model, youโ€™ll get some unique touches inside, too. Think orange stitching, all-season floor mats, and an overall rugged vibe that ties in with the exterior design.

And the TrailSport Elite trim takes it even further with features like perforated leather seats that are ventilated, a heated steering wheel (a must-have for those winter adventures), and aย 12-speaker Bose premium audio system.

Honestly, thereโ€™s nothing like blasting your favorite playlist while cruising down a winding roadโ€”and with this setup, itโ€™s going to sound amazing.

Safety Features for Peace of Mind

Safety has always been a strong point for Honda, and the 2026 Passport is no exception. According toย Consumer Reports, the SUV comes equipped with theย Honda Sensingยฎ suite, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition.

The wide-view camera and radar system also help improve how these features work, making the drive feel that much safer and more intuitive. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and hill descent control come standard as well.

And if youโ€™re worried about passive safety, Honda has addedย next-generation airbagsย aimed at reducing the risk of traumatic brain or neck injuries, along with standard knee airbags for both the driver and front passenger.

The company is aiming for aย Top Safety Pick+ ratingย from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which is always reassuring to hear.

Accessories and Customization

Who doesnโ€™t love a few extra add-ons to make their ride stand out? Hondaโ€™s offering a variety of genuine accessories to further enhance the Passportโ€™s rugged appeal.

For example, as The Drive reported, there are several wheel designs to choose from, as well as a sturdy aluminum front scuff plate and rock sliders with stainless-steel platesโ€”perfect for protecting your ride during off-road adventures.

One accessory thatโ€™s bound to get people talking is the stowable picnic table. Itโ€™s a nod to the one from the first-generationย CR-V, complete with a rubberized surface and a cool Baja topographic map design.

Itโ€™s perfect for those impromptu picnics or campsite dinners, and itโ€™s just another way the Passport leans into that adventure lifestyle.

The Verdict

The 2026 Honda Passport is shaping up to be more than just an SUVโ€”itโ€™s an all-around adventure vehicle that can handle everything from city streets to backcountry trails. Itโ€™s evident that Honda has listened to what drivers want and taken some real strides in creating a vehicle that meets those demands.

If youโ€™re someone who loves the idea of heading off the beaten path without giving up creature comforts, the Passport should definitely be on your radar. With its anticipated arrival in early 2025, the countdown is on. I, for one, am excited to see it in action.
