The old Jeep Wrangler YJ and TJ have a bolt pattern of 5 x 4.5 inches (5 x 114.3 mm). And the new Jeep Wrangler JK and JL have a bolt pattern of 5 x 5 inches (5 x 127 mm).

Bolt pattern = [number of lug holes on the wheel] x [diameter of the circle these lug holes form]

For example, 5 x 127, in which the first number 5 indicates the number of lug holes at the center of the wheel and the second number 127 indicates the diameter of the circle these lug holes form.

NOTE: “The wheel fitment specs do not change within the generation.

Let’s look at Jeep Wrangler bolt pattern and wheel fitment specs for all its generations.

How to Measure Bolt Pattern

Let’s look at how to measure the wheel bolt pattern on your vehicle wheels.

We are going to talk about two different methods to measure wheel bolt patterns. One is a tape measure, and the other is an actual measuring tool.

The wheel bolt pattern is the number of studs or the number of lug holes on your wheel and the distance between them.

The distance between lug holes is measured differently depending on whether there are an even number of holes or an odd number of holes.

Even lug wheels, so our four and our eight, we need to measure straight across from one center to another center, so it’ll be center on center.

For odd-lug wheels, measure from the center of one to the outside edge of the opposite lug hole.

NOTICE: For a six-stud wheel, you don’t have to do any measuring; you just buy a wheel.
NOTICE: With the odd, there’s only a five-lug pattern; there’s no three or seven.

How to Properly Torque Wheel Lug Nuts

It is an obvious thing to torque your vehicle’s wheels’ lug nuts or studs properly. So you may have no problems later on.

The first thing we can put our wheel on after that we can put over lug nut on in the star pattern and tight by hand.

If there is a four-lug nut wheel, use the cross pattern shown in the figure.

For five, six, or eight-lug wheels, use a star pattern to torque the lug nuts.

Adjust the torque wrench to the proper torque specification recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. But first, ground the vehicle and then use a torque wrench.
